Reat plate is a piece designed to allow electronic computers to connect to a computer network

The role of network card:
- Prepare computer data to be transmitted by cable network;
- Send data to another computer;?
- Controls the data flow between computer and cable network;?
- Receives incoming data through the cable and turn them into bytes that the CPU of the computer can understand them.

Preparing the data
Before data is transmitted in the network, network card has to convert the form in which they are understood by the computer, in a form in which they can move through the network cable. Move data into the computer along circuits, called lines. They consist of several adjacent paths, which can run in parallel data grouped. The cable network, data must flow in a single string of bits (serial transmission). Network card takes the data flowing in parallel form group and restructures them so that it becomes a serial bit stream, which will be transported through the network cable. This is accomplished by converting digital signals into electrical signals or optical computer that can browse the network cables. Component that performs this function is the transceiver. Apart from data conversion, network card must notify their position, or the rest of the network address, to be differentiated from other network cards. Network addresses are unique, are encoded in network card chips.

Transmission
Before NIC transmitter to transmit data in network, it carries an electronic dialogue with the receiving NIC to agree on the following parameters:? A) the maximum size of groups of data to be transmitted;? B) volume of data transmitted without waiting for confirmation;? c) the time between data blocks;? d) the time until the transmission confirmation;? e) buffer capacity to avoid exceeding it;? f) speed data transmission.
Every other board signals its own parameters, as well as accepting or adapting to parameters other boards. When all the details of communication are in place, the two plates begin to transmit and receive data.
We share a network card into two parts one part dealing with traffic on the cable network and we will call transceiver and a party bus interfacing with your computer and which computer interface.
Transceiver interface receives the encoded data packets that amplify and verify they appear collisions during transmission cable according to CSMA.

CSMA is a protocol for transmission of data link level implemented here to ensure a higher speed packages incomlete rejection. Amplification signal must be strong enough so that even in the worst case when we have a whole segment (500m) held (100 stations) all stations receive a signal strong enough and yet not be so strong that stations close to perceive that there was a collision when the collision is considered in cable exceeds a reference signal which is adjustable components tranceiverelor externe.O Another problem is the impedance they present connector and if it exceeds the standard limits will affect the form and signal reception is wrong so they get something that may damage the entire network traffic.

Data transmission network
The data are part of large files. Networks but may not work if every computer would place the cable at one time a large amount of data. First, block the transmission of large amounts of data strangles (block) network, preventing the rapid interaction and communication because of a computer "flood" data cable. Second, if there are errors in transmission, error handling task is simpler, less data must retransmitted if large blocks of data are first formatted into smaller packets.? Penru that multiple users can simultaneously transmit information network, data must be fragmented into smaller units and easier to handle. These units are called packets or frames. Packages are the basic unit of network communications.? If data are broken down into packets, individual transmissions will be accelerated of Every computer on the network will have more opportunities to transmit and receive data. The remote host (recipient), packets are collected and reassembled in proper order to restore data to its original shape.

Topologies

Physical layout of space computers, cables and other components that make up the network is called network topology.
Network topology directly affects its performance. Choosing a topology over another influence:
type of equipment needed? - Characteristics of the equipment?
- Further expansion of the network?
- How it is managed network?

There are three main standard network topologies:
- Bus (Bus)
- Star (Star)
- Ring (Ring)
